O quizás no escuché y entendío correcto?

But, you could probably say: Leía todos los libros dos veces? - annierats, Dec 3, 2012
good extra question annierats. I´m curious now too. - rogspax, Dec 3, 2012
And thanks Julian. - rogspax, Dec 3, 2012
It doesn´t matter how many books or how many times. As long the actions are finished and don´t pertain to any other actions of the same time period, pretérito should be used. - 005faa61, Dec 3, 2012
This is different from a past on-going action that requires imperfecto, ie "Cuando estaba en la universidad leía mucho" - 005faa61, Dec 3, 2012

I agree.

I'd say ¨Leí el libro dos veces¨ (I read the book twice)

Thanks all. So, i listened to the passage again this morning in a better environment (yesterday, I was in a loud truck and trailer rig driving home, after being at a very loud racetrack for 3 days) and I now think they were saying ´lei el libro´ and I was somehow mishearing leí-el as leía. Just a problem with overtaxed ears and brain. I need to improve both. I´m not sure racing a loud motorcycle and occasionally falling on my head is going to help either.

thanks all!

Next time you're on the way back from Fort Worth (or wherever) try reading with a skinfull, you might get some even better results. Hey this is fun, we've all been there. - geofc, Dec 4, 2012
