¿Cuál prefieres? "el casillero", "la taquilla", or "armario" for a locker in school?
I tend to cross reference from English to Spanish, and vice versa, when I'm looking for the best translation, but that's not getting me anywhere. I can't decide based on the information I'm finding. Which word do you prefer for a school-type locker? Thanks!

Yo diría el casillero, si se refiere a un "school locker". Taquilla is more used for a "call box or ticket booth" in a theatre. Armario is a closet. It could also be used for a "gym locker".
Of course, nothing is written in stone. There are significant regional variations and common usage dictates what is appropriate for each country.
"Armario" is wardrobe or clothes closet of sorts, Your lock is for clothes and other items.
So my vote for "Amario" as best word ofr locker at school.
It is definitely "taquilla" in Spanish from Spain!
