Saber means to have knowledge or an ability. Examples:

María sabe manejar (She knows how to drive).

Sabemos vivir (We know hot to live).

Saben inglés (They know English).

Conocer means to be familiar with / to meet or know somebody.

Conozco a tus padres (I know--I am familiar with-- your parents)

Conocen la literatura española (They know--They are familiar with-- Spanish Literature)

Conocemos París, Venecia y Madrid (We know---we have been to-- Paris, Venice and Madrid)

They have a good reference section and quiz on this in the Spanish grammar section (pull down the tab under "Learn" on your toolbar and you'll see "Spanish Grammar"... lot's of good stuff there). Here's the link to the reference section: http://www.spanishdict.com/topics/show/78 Hope that helps....
