Explanation - Si hubiera... Write complete sentences about the images. Use the conditional perfect and the past perfect subjunctive

Model - (él) levantar pesas / mantenerse en forma Si hubiera levantado pesas, se habría mantenido en forma

(picture of woman - holding her childs hand as they walk and she is looking at her watch.

1. (ellos) / levantarse temprano / no llegar tarde Si se habrían levantado temprano, no hubieras llegado tarde (wrong)

2. (yo) hacer ejercicios de estiramiento / no haberse lastimado Si hubiera hecho ejercicios de estiramiento no me habría lastimado (correct)

3. (ustedes) leer el libro / sacar buenas notas en el examen Si hubieran leído el libro habrían sacado buenas notas en el examen (correct)

4. (tú) llegar temprano / recibir un regalo Si hubieras llegado temprano habrías recibido un regalo (correct)

My Spanish teacher always used the memory device "sips would". Si+past subjunctive+would(conditional tense). The "if" phrase is the subjunctive. Then the conditional phrase follows. In English that makes sense: If they had gotten up early, they would not have arrived late. Si se hubieran levantado temprano, no habrían llegado tarde.
