Mobile Phone App/Social Media?

Question

Is there a consensus on how to translate some of the newer technology that has evolved in the past five years? I need to translate "mobile phone app" and "social media" (sites), but everyone I know just uses the English words or names a specific social media site (as opposed to discussing social media in general. I'm reluctant to trust the online dictionaries on this one...

If anyone knows for certain how to say "mobile phone app" and/or "social media" I'd welcome any suggestions. Otherwise, I'll just keep researching!
