What did I say today - "for the chuck"

Same as yesterday, I was in the kitchen. My wife found half an apple in the fridge that had been there maybe a week. I said "It's for the chuck" and this time she understood me.

I thought it might be an interesting word/usage so here is my version: "Llego el momento de tirarlo."

There's lots of scope to correct my mistake and to find better ways of saying this. Have at it. "Hay plena oportunidad para coregir mi eror e inventar maneras mejores de decir esto. Adelante"

PS I do not intend to intrude on your lives every day with one of these. All sigh with relief.

Just chuck it out. But next time geof, you really must just eat the whole apple the first time. - katydew, Nov 22, 2012
Why not? The more it gets us thinking, the better. - rac1, Nov 22, 2012
I'd have never guessed that! Thanks geofc! - Hokuten, Nov 22, 2012
I'm just old and forgetful Katy. - geofc, Nov 22, 2012

"It's for the chuck"

I didn´t understand this until reading your Spanish translation, but I would have understood "It´s ready to be chucked" ...... "Ya está para tirarse / botarse."

I think I´ll make British English my 4th language to study , ha ha!
