Blueberry vs Cranberry. Both cannot be 'arándano'. What is blueberry?
What is the translation from English into Spanish for blueberry? Please do not say arándano because that is the definition for cranberry. The two berries are very different. The blueberry is a sweet berry whether raw, cooked or baked. The cranberry, which is red in colour is on the bitter side when raw and, without sugar remains so when cooked. So,.can someone please tell me what is the word for blueberry in Spanish? Thank you.

The correct translation for blueberry is arándano, and for cranberry it is arándano agrio since it is not as sweet as blueberries.
Why can't they both be arándano? Here in Baja the word "grúa" is used for everything from a tow truck to a crane.
However, here a blueberry is arándano azul while a cranberry is simply arándano.
The dictionary says that it's "arándano azul."
El diccionario dice que se dice "arándano azul."
Since "blueberry", "cranberry" and "bilberry" are all of the same close family, maybe there's room for some confusion. Samples of any one of them, too, may be different according to where and in what climate they were grown.
Even strawberries come in a whole variety of sizes and sweetness and nobody seems concerned to invent multiple names for them.
When I have these kinds of problem I go to wikipedia and change the language
For example here in Perú we call limes "limones" but the correct translation would be lemon but I saw that a lemon and what we so-call "lemons" are totaally different
Blueberry= mora azul o arándano azul Cranberry= arándano rojo
They belong to the same family but the main difference between them is the color.
