Usó de poción

Usó de poción

I was playing Pokémon Esmerelda when I read "Usó poción por Líder Petra". I know this means "Leader Petra used a potion" but I don't understand why it wouldn't be "Líder Petra usó la poción" or "La poción fue usada por Líder Petra".

Does it mean the same thing? And can this construction be used with other verbs (e.g. "Comó de manzana por mí" instead of "La manzana fue comido por mí"?

That sentence ("Usó de poción por Líder Petra") is not grammatically correct, but without the tilde it might be aceptable. - -cae-, Nov 22, 2012
Well, it might be acceptable if you add the word "de", "Uso de poción por Lider Petra", although as you suggest is much better ("Líder Petra usó la poción"). - -cae-, Nov 22, 2012

Hmmm, maybe it meant to say "uso" without the accent mark? As in "Potion use by Leader Petra."
