What is the difference between Tener que and Hay que

Question

I didn't understand quite well what's the difference between them. Would someone be kind enough to explain what they stand for with some example sentences ?

The difference is personalization. With "tener" you must identify who is responsible, ie: "(Tú) tienes que acabar este trabajo."

With "hay" it´s similar to passive voice in that no person is identified, ie: "Hay que acabar este trabajo." (Maybe this structure is passive voice - I don´t know)

Yes, hay que is where we'd use passive in English.

I have to do it. Tengo que hacerlo You have to do it. Tienes que hacerlo.

Hay que hacerlo. It has to be done, or, One has to do it. Hay que empezar aqui. One has to start here.

Tener que (needs a subject)

Tengo que comer - I have to eat

Tienes que comer - You have to eat

Tiene que comer - You (formal) - he/she has to eat

Hay que (general) aka "one must"

Hay que comer (one must eat)

Así de sencillo.

Pues, también te paso la definición según la RAE (una fuente confiable obviamente)

A mi parecer es simplemente otra manera de expresar la necesidad de hacer algo (un poco más leve que tener que)... pero no se tiene que utilizarla.
