Hola.

My name is Tyler and I'm a 3rd year spanish student at my high school. Since I am a junior I have decided to become a teacher for my career. I either wanted to be a United Sates history teacher, or un maestro de español. I am not currently fluent in the language, but i was wondering how long it took you to learn the language. (Or at least enough to be able to 1. Talk 2. Listen 3. Read 4. Write and 5. Teach the language.)

If you answer this question, and maybe give me some tips on learning the language better, that would be greatly appreciated.

Buenas Noches!!

I suggest spending time in a Spanish speaking country and studying hard.

I did but did not try hard enough and I am still not fluent.

I'd say that it takes about three years of studying to read, write, and listen very well. That's if you practice every day.

Thereafter, you'll need some type of immersion to speak well enough to call yourself Highly Advanced. You won't have to be "Fluent" to be a Spanish teacher, just very good at it.
