A veces yo veo mucha palabras en español un poco similar, por ejemplo, lectura y discurso. ¿Hay mucha diferencia entre los dos? El diccionario no esta claro.

lectura means reading (the process of extracting meaning from a written or printed text) and discurso means speech. Saludos!

por nada :) - sandyMx, Nov 13, 2012
Muy bien--- Lectura viene de leer. Discurso y lecture en inglés son equivalentes. - francobollo, Nov 13, 2012

I think it's reasonable to say that a lecture "una lectura" is mostly used for a teaching or training session for students which may or may not be accomplished by reading a book. Personal experience says that many lectures may just as well be read from a book as delivered without aids. A discourse, "un discurso" is less set in its pattern and is designed more to impart information than to condition the listeners.

Hope this helps.
