Primera, primero or primer?

Primera, primero or primer?

I'm currently naming my first litter of purebred labrador puppies and I wanted to add a word that means "first" before their name so that I can see which litter they were a part of.

If Rosebud is a girl, would she become "Primera" Rosebud?

If Bomber is a boy, would he become "Primero" Bomber?

Or, would they both just become "Primer" Rosebud & "Primer" Bomber?

As this is our first litter, is it our "primer" litter (or is litter classified as male or female)?

Because these names are recorded on their birth certificates, I wanted to get it right! Sorry if these are ridiculous questions, I have never studied a language other than English!

Thanks! smile

Rosebud I (Primera)

Bomber I (Primero)

If they are different genders, then you would have to list them separately Rosebud I (Primera) y Bomber I (Primero).

Primer is an adjective (short for primero). It's always masculine (despite some horrible variations out there such as la primer vez, la primer estudiante) and it always goes before the noun. El primer hombre fue Adán y la primera mujer fue Eva.
