Practice not being too literal # 66

Practice not being too literal # 66

As my title says, I am trying to learn to not be literal in translations, so every day I will post a saying in English and ask for suggestions as to how to convey the thought in Spanish. At the end of the day, I will pick the answer that I think most accurately reflects the idea, and I will choose it as best answer for 20 points to the respondent.

Today's phrase is, "you reap what you sow."

Good luck!

As it is based on a biblical quotation wouldn't a literal translation be appropriate in this case?

Lo que siembras, cosecharás.

I see your point, but the real purpose of this thread is to practice not being literal in translation. - kdrinning, Nov 14, 2012

Your deeds, good or bad, will repay you in kind.

If I can be generous to all who are not, then the time will come when someone will be generous to me.
