Okay, sports fans, today El Pais in Spain has interviewed the Champions League's Henrik Larrson. This is for all of you who love Messi, and who doesn't?

enter image description here

Here is how this works.

I post a headline and a some paragraphs from a Spanish-language newspaper. You will read through it for comprehension. When you find a word that you don't know, (and I know that sometimes I cannot even make it through the headline) click on it or look it up in the translator or dictionary. Then, post that one word in Spanish and English, and the definition as your entry. You can post a picture if you like. Any words you provide definitions for, please highlight that word.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even beginners. Just jump in and find a word you don't know and post it and it's translation. This Spanish comprehension is like one big puzzle, but if we take it one word at a time, we will win! The click on translator doesn't have every word, but when it works, it makes the process of figuring out what they are saying SO easy.

If enough people participate, we will have lots of tricky words and phrases spelled out for us, will add to our vocabularies, improve comprehension and be up to making light conversation on current events in Spanish at cocktail parties. That and the gift certificates I'll be giving out (not) should encourage your play.

You can translate phrases or whole sentences if you like, just please highlight the vocabulary words in your sentence and give me a list at the end.

Here we go. Here's the excerpt from the article:

No puedo elegir.

P. ¿Qué le pareció el duelo del Camp Nou (2-1)?

R. Estoy muy orgulloso del Celtic, defendió muy bien, pero el Barça domina el balón como nadie. Es difícil hacer un mejor fútbol que ellos. No se les puede criticar nada.

That one wasn't in the article, but I guess you like Spanish soccer. Go ahead and pick out a word or phrase you don't know from the article, with its translation. It's fun! It's like a puzzle we are working on together. - JoyceM, Nov 6, 2012
