Sentences with Multiple Clauses

Hi,

I was wondering what happens in senteces with multiple clauses in regards to subjunctive.

For example, with this sentence:

"I believe that she wants me to be happy."

This is what I've come up with myself:

"Creo que ella quiera que yo sea feliz"

Is that okay?

Thanks

Tim

i think you are correct (im not a native) im not 100% sure however. - spanishgav, Nov 5, 2012
quiere ( creo que is not followed by the subjunctive). Sea is correct, I think. - annierats, Dec 12, 2012
However, you can use "no creo que" and it does need the subjunctive. - katydew, Dec 12, 2012

Hello, Tim!

The fact that you deal with single or multiple clauses doesn't affect to the choice indicative/subjunctive.

What you think, believe, suppose, guess... is followed by indicative

What you want, wish, would like, hope... is followed by subjunctive

Creo que quiere que sea feliz

So both stay subjunctive, because both are uncertain, y no son hechos? - rogspax, Dec 12, 2012
Hola Cogumela,¡ que bien verte por aquí! And I was right.. Dos placeres. - annierats, Dec 12, 2012
' Rogspax, quiere is indicative because it follows creo que. - annierats, Dec 12, 2012
Hola annie, me alegro de verte :) - cogumela, Dec 12, 2012
Rogspax: Only the second one stays subjunctive, not the first one. The reason is not based upon certainty. - cogumela, Dec 12, 2012

You might want to wait for an answer by a native speaker, but here's my view:

Your sentence looks right to me - "yo" is not necessary, and you might want to use "quiere" instead of "quiera".

Someone who speaks Spanish more fluently should be able to help you with other sentences, but I hope that helps a little..

Annierats is correct in saying that "creo que" does not take the subjunctive, but if you use, "no creo que" it does take the subjunctive.
