How would you translate "window handle"?

Hello,

I was wondering what the translation for "window handle" (the handle used to open and close a window) would be in Spanish.

From the translation for "handle" on this site, I'm guessing it's probably "el mango" or "la manilla", but it would be great if a native speaker could confirm this.

Many thanks, Rangi

Hello. I would use "(la) manilla de la ventana" or "(la) manija de la ventana"; "(el) mango" is used more often with tools or other things that you can carry arround (like a hammer: "el mango del martillo").

I totally agree. - gringojrf, Nov 3, 2012
¡Bien contestado! Creo que fuera de lo de la herramienta, el uso es regional ej: en México es más común decir "la manija" en vez de "la manilla" - 005faa61, Nov 3, 2012

Is this window part of a motor vehicle etc. or a house window? For a car I've always used "una manija" and, in hot weather at least, I've avoided using window handles in buildings although I think I'd use "una manilla" for this.
