The second oldest?

The second oldest?

Hi all,

If I want to express something like the 'second oldest' or '3rd largest'

Is it simply

segundo más viejo and tercero más grande

??

Or is that too literal, and there´s a better to do it?

Thanks for any confirmation or correction.

It may be literal, but it´s perfect.

Second oldest: El segundo (mayor, age only). You can say: "Mario es el segundo de los 5 hijos de María". El segundo de los hijos mayores de María (He's the second oldest among Maria's children).

The third largest: El tercer más grande (or mayor) or La tercera más grande (o mayor) in size or volume, etc.
