Looking forward to something

Looking forward to something

Hi all,

How does one express looking forward to something in general?

To an event, or season or date or time of year?

I used the phrasebook and found ¨looking forward to seeing you¨ as esperando verte, but I´m not sure about any broader usage.

(and does even that really convey the sense of looking-forward-to?) Or is it closer to the literal ´hoping-to-see-you´

Thanks for any ideas or insight.

Roger
