How do you say 'i am surprised'

My mexican friend approaches me (without me knowing) and surprises me with a sound of Woah!

And he asks me,
'TE %##&??' sound like te fantaste...i really don't know...

I guess he is asking me is if he surprised me or scared me but i cannot catch the word he is saying.

Can someone help me with this?

One possibility could be: ¿Te asustaste?

I think I am surprised would be "Estoy sorprendido" and It surprised me would be "me sorprende" but I am not an expert so I am not sure about those either smile
