Hushpuppies are shoes, but hushpuppies, according to Wikipedia...
A hushpuppy (or cornbread ball) is a savory, starch-based food made from cornmeal batter that is deep fried or baked in small ball or sphere shapes, or occasionally oblong shapes. Hushpuppies are frequently served as a side dish, usually at fish restaurants.
They are considered a staple in the cuisine of the South (as in the War Between the States) in the U.S.A. The picture is a hushpuppie. I don't think there is a name for it in Spanish, but it might be a distant relative to a croquet. They are extremely good if very fresh.
P.S. I don't really cook them, or even fish that often, but I thought it might be a fun, new word for some. ![]()
