¿Cómo se dice? "He's a player." "Él es jugador."

Question

I'm curious about how to say, "He's a player." I can't even think of a good word in English that sums up the guy who moves from girl to girl, never really making any commitment. It's not necessarily sexual encounters, and he's not really making any commitment, so philanderer doesn't work. Hmmm.

It's a term that's been used around here for years. At the high school level, it's just a guy that you can't take seriously because his interest will quickly move on to another girl. He kind of messes with one for a while, then moves on to the next. - rheit, Oct 18, 2012

Although it hasn't made it into the RAE yet, "jugador/a" is very often used by people from México in common conversation here in the U.S due to English influence. Some other more common options include "mujeriego" and "faldero" (it comes from the Spanish word for skirt, "falda"; I love this word). It is always a good idea to keep in mind who your target audience (destinatario) is when looking for a translation. As always, there are several regional ways to say this. Something that makes sense to one Spanish speaker may not be understood or, worse yet, considered inappropriate by another.

Rac1 is right. Mujeriego is a commonly accepted adjective. Casanova, picaflor, and Don Juán might be a little bit passé.
