Mirar vs Ver - a little help

If you sometimes find the choice between 'mirar' and 'ver' to be a little confusing seeing as both of these verbs can at times be translated as 'watching' or 'looking', then perhaps this lesson will help - ver vs mirar . There is also a section at the end about why you sometimes mirar is followed by an 'a' but at other times it isn't.

It does get confusing.

I try to remember that watching TV, a movie, or a sports event is almost always paired with the verb "ver and not "mirar."

In Bolivia both "ver" and "mirar" were used for "watching" TV.
