Dessert - Desert

Algunas palabras en inglés pueden crear confusión para los principiantes.

Some words in English can be confusing for learners.

This one is to practice the following words: Dessert - Desert (noun or verb)

Both native Spanish and English speakers may answer - but write both Spanish and English sentences.

I would appreciate some help in checking the Spanish sentences.

Agradecería una cierta ayuda en la comprobación de las oraciones españolas.

I will "accept" the best effort after about a week

Every attempt will get a vote.

NOTE - we would normally need 2 sentences, one in each language for each use of these words, .

Pictures may help to explain the meanings.

I wonder how many meanings / uses we can find.

Futher explanation as to the different meanings / uses may be given.

Please do not suggest new words - but pictures are welcome.

The desert rats were a brave band of soldiers who never deserted their posts in the desolate desert, not even if they were offered ice-cream dessert.

Las ratas del desierto era una banda de soldados muy valientes quienes nunca desertaban su puesto en el el desierto más desolada, ni siquiera si les ofrecieran un postre de helado.

My dad says that you only want to go to the desert once, but you always want seconds for dessert.

Mi padre dice que solamente quiere ir el desierto ("desert") una vez, pero siempre quiere repetí del postre ("dessert").

En el desierto hay un riesgo grande que serías el postre para los buitres.

In the desert there is a great risk of becoming the dessert for the vultures.

perhaps it's ' serás or estarás', now I've thought about it. Best never to think! It only leads to problems. - annierats, Oct 14, 2012

I'm sure people in the desert would love some dessert, preferably ice cream, from Baskin and Robbins.

Estoy seguro de que la gente en el desierto, le encantaría de postre, crema de hielo preferiblemente, de Baskin Robbins.

Durante una sequía el campo puede parecer a un desierto .

During a drought the countryside can look like a desert.

La muerte sigue la sequía, como postre sigue cena.

Death follows drought , just as dessert follows dinner

    -

De comer el postre después de un gran comida es una indulgencia ,

pero me gusta.

Eating dessert after a big meal is an indulgence , but i like it .

¡Sería maravilloso si un postre estaba disponible a través del desierto!

It would be wonderful if a dessert was available across the desert!

I was in the desert dreaming not of water, but of dessert.

Estaba en el desierto y no estoy pensando en el agua, sino el postre.

Surely, they must serve dessert in the desert hotels?

¿Seguramente, deben ofrecer el postre en los hoteles del desierto? enter image description here
