As you already know, English has fewer tenses then Spanish.
Today we will examine the preterite and imperfect Spanish tenses.
I will select the verb that we will use.
I will tell you its verb meaning…in general.
I will also give you the verbs conjugations.
You will need to select one of the conjugations and use it in a sentence.
Examples : ( dormir – to sleep) – Dormí tres horas ( I slept three hours )
Please answer in Spanish and English. Please use ‘clip art” if you have it.
And please…enjoy yourself.
Como ya lo sabes, el inglés tiene menos tiempos que el español.
Hoy examinaremos los tiempos pretérito e imperfecto de español.
Seleccionaré el verbo que utilizaremos.
Les diré la significación del verbo…por lo general.
También les daré las conjugaciones del verbo.
Tendrán que seleccionar una de las conjugaciones y utilizarla en una frase.
Ejemplos: (to sleep – Dormir ) – Dormí tres horas – ( I slept three hours)
Por favor conteste en español y en inglés.

El imperfecto –
dormía, dormías, dormía, dormíamos, dormíais, dormían

Los ciudadanos del país dormían mientras ocurrió el terremoto.
The country's citizens slept as the earthquake occurred.
De niño ,dormía bien si tenia mi oso de peluche. When I was little I slept well if I had my teddy bear.( This is a photo of me at three months of age.)
De niña, no dormía bien.
When I was little, I didn't sleep well.

Mientras tu dormías, yo comi todos las galletas de chocolate. While you were sleeping, I ate all the chocolate biscuits.
Aunque durmió toda la noche pasada, aún quiere dormir más.
Though she slept all the last night, she still wants to sleep more.

"Durmió como una piedra" y "durmió como un tronco", indican que una persona disfrutó de un sueño profundo y sin interrupciones. ¡Los animales, también!
"He slept like a rock" and "he slept like a log", indicate that a person enjoyed a deep, uninterrupted sleep. Animals, too.
Mi gato dormía en la cama conmigo hasta se murió.
My cat slept in bed with me until he died.
Anoche tomé una pastilla para dormir y después dormí como una piedra.
Last night I took a sleeping pill and after that I slept like a log.
Dormí en la casa de mi hermana ayer. I slept at my sisters house yesterday.
