Talking to friends who speak spanish

Question

A minority of my friends speak spanish ( some of them speak english as well ) and I find it difficult to understand what they are saying. I mean, it's not hard for me to put my limited vocabualry into coherent senteces, my sisters and I talk in spanish all the time, but it's kindof hard to put together what my friends are trying to tell me. Maybe they talk to fast ? Maybe I'm just awful at understanding and translating ? Any suggestions would be soo helpful.

Try to speak slower when you guys are talking or maybe just try to understand their certain style of speaking the language beacuse everyone speaks it diferently.
