Asking if something (restaurant, bank, store, etc. ) is open?
Hi, I am a beginner. I have been having a little trouble with this. Open and Closed can be used as both verbs and adjectives.
I think I understand when they are used as adjectives-La tienda está cerrada (The store is closed) or La tienda está albierta (the store is closed). Abierto/a, Cerrado/a as adjectives agreeing with the gender of the noun.
I am struggling with the syntax in which to ask the question if something is open or closed?
Examples:
You walk into a restaurant and ask the waiter, are you (meaning the restaurant) open? Or what time do you close?
You are standing outside of a store that is closed, you see the sales person and ask what time does it (the store) open? Or you ask a person on the street what time does it ( the store) close?
Finally, you ask a friend or person specifically, what time does the store open? Or what time does the store close?
Thanks (sorry if this was a little long)

Thanks for the reply:
You walk into a restaurant and ask the waiter, are you (meaning the restaurant) open? Or what time do you close?
Can the questions also be phrased as: ¿a qué hora abren? ¿a qué hora cierras?
As in what time do you all open or close (the whole restaurant, 3rd person plural) as opposed to you (indvidually, 2nd person singular)?
Great questions.
You walk into a restaurant and ask the waiter, are you (meaning the restaurant) open? Or what time do you close?
¿Está abierto (el restaurante)? ¿ A qué hora cierra?
...ask what time does it (the store) open? Or you ask a person on the street what time does it ( the store) close?
¿A qué hora abre la tienda?
¿A qué hora cierra la tienda?
¿El restorán está abierto/cerrado? (el restorán can be omitted).
¿Ustedes están abiertos/cerrados? (ustedes can be omitted).
¿A qué hora cierra/abre el restorán? ( el restorán can be omitted).
¿A qué hora cierran/abren ustedes? ( ustedes can be omitted).
All the above are correct. Also remember the word order Is flexible in Spanish so you could also hear :.
¿Está abierto el restorán? etc.
Is the store open or am I too early
