Holding hands

Hey! I did use the translator/dictionary for this, but I just want to double check with the community, because I've never come across this before, but how would you say "We held hands" in Spanish?

"We held hands"

There are various ways to say this:

"Anduvimos juntos de la mano"

"Anduvimos con las manos cojidas"

"Anduvimos mano en mano"

Note that the verb "andar" dosen´t have to mean "to walk" - although it can depending on the context. This is just how we say that "we were........." or "we did............" It´s a little idiomatic, but very common.

Also depending on context, you could use "Nos quedamos" in place of "Anduvimos." It all depends upon the nuance you want to create. Other variants could be used as well, but it´s a waste of time exploring all of them with just one simple sentence to go by. With no context, you simply translate a few words and not necessarily the story or the feeling behind the story.

To say "Nos tomamos de las manos" indicates only the inicial action of taking each others hand and not the process of doing so for a period of time, which I believe is what you have mentioned in English.

Wouldn't that be "they held hands"? - Der_Kirby, Sep 25, 2012
