The verb for standing

I have been trying to figure out how to use the verb for standing. How would I translate "I stood in line for..."?

Stand on your feet means estar de pie. But in Spanish, to stand in line is translated as hacer la cola/fila. We do not use the verb to stand.

To stand is usually translated as estar de pie or estar parado but you wont always translate that literally, as there is often a set phrase to describe things, for example with your sample sentence: hacer fila/cola = 'to stand in line'

My suggestion would be:

Hice cola durante más de dos horas. I stood in line for more than two hours.

But I'm still learning too so do wait for a native speaker.

Me quedè de pie en linea. As far as I know there is no verb for standing, to be standing you just say estar de pie and I stand correcting.
