Gender of nouns

to determine if word is maculine or feminie, if ending in letter e, it can be either and you would add the indef or def article? Ex calle,could be la calle or el calle?

Each noun can be masculine, feminine, or sometimes both depending on whether we are talking about a man or woman.
La mente = feminine
La calle = feminine
Predidente = La Presidente (woman) / El Presidente (man)
Cantante = La cantante (woman) / El cantante (man)
and you would add the indef or def article?
Un cantante (a male singer)
Una cantante (a female singer)
