The difference between animal sounds

I'm a high school Spanish student and was curious as to why the animal sounds are different in English than in Spanish..For instance, in English a rooster says "Cock-a-doodle-doo" yet, in Spanish, a rooster says "Qui-qui-ri-qui."

part of this relates to diphthongs, the origins of language/words, many thru Latin & Greek and on and on-- a long disertation if you do some Google research you will find many avenues that split off on this interesting comment

how the word 'woof' for instance begins with a w in English, however, in another language the sound of w is by nature going to be different

a curious mind & thanks for the wonderful question

I found this on the web that may come in handy:

Onomatopoeic sounds:

English Spanish equivalent

woof (dogs) guau (perros)

meow (cats) miau (gatos)

oink (pigs) oinc (cerdos)

moo (cows) mu (vacas)

baa (sheep) be (ovejas)

tweet-tweet (birds) pío pío (pájaros)
