¿Cómo se dice "show" (i.e. "tv show&quotwink en español?

To discuss watching, or having watched said show, do we use ver or mirar?

As my comment shows above I agree with francobello that ver is the most common verb used for this.

However, if you see something and you want someone else to turn and look at the TV the common command form is Mira not Ve. I have been told (by native speakers) that Ve as the command form of Ver is seldom if ever used.

You make a valid point because you are asking them to stare at or look at something closely, so mirar is appropiate. - francobollo, Sep 5, 2012
No sooner do I say that natives don't use "ve" as the imperative of ver and my girlfriend uses it. Go figure. - gringojrf, Sep 16, 2012

Ver un programa de televisión. Mirar means to stare or to look and, in my opinion, should not be used when referring to watching TV; however, lots of native speakers confuse the terms.

I agree. The TV here always says "Estas viendo ....." Never "estas mirando" - gringojrf, Sep 4, 2012

Either ¨mirar¨ or ¨ver¨ is acceptable on our Spanishdict.com forum. I looked in our dictionary under ¨mirar¨ and ¨ver¨. References to watching TV are used for both those verbs.

Estuvo mirando la tele todo el día.
He spent all day watching TV.

Anoche vi una película en la tele.
I saw or watched a film on TV last night.

Si bandit, pero desafortunadamente SD tiene errores hasta en la sección de referencia. En cualquier caso si dices ver o mirar la tele, todo el mundo te entenderá. - francobollo, Sep 5, 2012
Franco, si SD tiene errores yo quiero saber de ellos. If SD has errors please let me know of them so they can be corrected. - martha-sd, Sep 5, 2012
