Suntanning in Baja

Question

There is a Spanish verb for tanning - Broncear. And Bronceado for having a suntan.

Yet in Baja if you have a tan the common response is that you are quemado, they never use broncear. I just thought I would share this with everyone.

In Anguilla tanned tourists are known by the locals as 'wanna be's'.

I was born in a town by the sea, and I never, ever heard anyone say they were gonna "broncearse", "quemarse" was the thing, unless you're planning to get a fake tan at a spa or something

Broncearse se usa pero, en baja la gente evita el sol como si fuera la muerte! No es importante que la gente se broncee porque en países así le gusta la piel clara.
