Me encanta / Me revienta

Question

Oftentimes I read questions on SD regarding the equivalent in Spanish of "I love (something)" and "I hate (something)." A literal translation would be "Amo" or "Odio". But these two words are too strong in Spanish to convey the more subtle English meaning.

Examples:

"Me encanta que seas tan optimista", which means "I love it that you are so optimistic".

"Me revienta cuando me haces esperar. Sabes que no tengo paciencia". This means "I hate it when you keep me waiting. You know how little patience I tend to have."

Try writing sentences using "Me encanta" and "Me revienta". You'll soon be making them part of your vocabulary.

Pues, a decir verdad, mucha genta dice que "hate is a strong word" incluso en inglés. La frase "me revienta" es algo muy coloquial. Se podría decir simplemente que "no me gusta (etc)" o "no me agrada" si quisiera decir algo más "sútil." Además, estas frase que acabo de mencionar no son coloquialismos. Otra frase que se puede decir es que "no soporto" etc. Me hace enojar.... o en vez de "me encanta" se puede decir que "me alegra"

Me encanta = I love --- Me gusta =I like... así que "me encanta" es más fuerte que "me gusta". "Amar" es algo diferente (se refiere a una persona), y "querer" es usada en vez de esa palabra. - somosigualestodos, Aug 30, 2012

Hola francobollo, I have a question please before I try. Would 'revienta' be equivalent to the English phrase 'I can't stand it'? Example "I can't stand it when you keep telling me to hurry up." Thanks in advance!
