Bienvenido al foro abierto en SpanishDict.com. Hoy, mis compañeros de clase, vamos a aprender unos tiempos nuevos…y usarlos en frases.

Estos nuevos tiempos expresan acciones que tuvieron lugar en ningún momento especificado en el pasado.

Ya sabemos que "Haber" es un verbo auxiliar que nunca se puede utilizar solo.

Welcome to the open forum at SpanishDict.com. Today, my classmates, we are going to learn some new tenses…and use them in sentences.

These new tenses express actions that took place at no specified time in the past.

We already know that 'Haber' is an auxiliary verb that can never be used alone.

Compund or perfect tenses are composed of two parts:

the auxiliary (haber-to have) + a past participle.

They are called “perfect” because the action is completed. The function of the auxiliary verb “haber” is to tell “when”.

  1. Present Perfect Tense – (has/have) + (past participle)

Present (conjugated “haber )+(Perfect Tense – “past participle” verb “fumar”- to smoke)

he (I have), (fumado) smoked

has (you [tú] have),

ha (he, she, it – has)…

(you (Ud.) have,

hemos (we have),

haéis (you [vos] have),

han (they, you [Uds.] have)

  1. Past Perfect Tense – (had) + (past participle)

Past (conjugated “haber- had)+(Perfect Tense –“past participle” verb “Fumar” – to smoke)

había (I )had (fumado) smoked

habías (you [tú] )had

había (he, she, it) – had

(you (Ud.) had,

habíamos (we) had

habíais (you [vos]) had

habían (they, you [Uds.] had

3 A. Future Perfect Tense – (will/shall have) + (past participle)

***3.B {can also be used to express conjecture –

(has probably /must have} + (past participle) ***

habré (I ) will/shall have (smoked) [(I) must have/ probably have] (smoked)

habrás (you [tú] )will/shall have

habrá (he, she, it) will/shall have

(you (Ud.) will/shall have

habremos (we ) shall have

habréis (you [vos])will/shall have

habrán (they, you [Uds.] will/shall have

4 A. Conditional Perfect Tense – (would have) + (past participle)

***4 B. {can also be used to express conjecture} –

   (had probably) + (past participle)***

habría (I ) would have (smoked) [(I) had probably] (smoked)

habrías (you [tú] ) would have

habría (he, she, it) would have

(you (Ud.) would have

habríamos (we ) would have

habríais (you [vos])would have

habrían (they, you [Uds.] would have

                                  ***

The Subjunctive Moods.

5 . Present Perfect Subjunctive-

{(that) I, you{tú}, he, she, you, we, they (may have} + (past participle)

(que) - haya, hayas, haya, hayamos, hayáis, hayan

*

  1. Plueperfect (imperfect) Subjunctive
  • –

{(that) I, you{tú}, he, she, you, we, they (might have} + (past participle)

“ to smoke -Fumar”

I will give you a verb. You will need to select “ any compound tense” from those that use "haber", and use it in a sentence with the past participle of (Fumar)

Today’s Past Participle verb will be from : (Fumar – to smoke) (fumado) Use it in a “ Compound Tense with "Haber"”

“Fumar – to smoke” (fumado)

(haber) + (fumado)

pero por supuesto todavia vale un voto :) - Kiwi-Girl, Aug 28, 2012
Hay is the 3rd personimpersonal of "haber" and isn't considered a true conjugation. But, good catch. :) . - viejito, Aug 28, 2012
3rd person impersonal...who said that I could type...LoL :) - viejito, Aug 28, 2012
Plus. it means that it can't stand as an infinitive. :) - viejito, Aug 28, 2012
how about - Hubiera preferido probar algo grande y haber fallado, a no haberlo hecho y haber tenido éxito. Couple of infinitives in there je je - just teasing! - Kiwi-Girl, Aug 29, 2012
Each one came with a past participle...I think that we are on the same page..LoL :) - viejito, Aug 29, 2012

Según un estudio los efectos del trabajo en el último período del embarazo resultan igual de dañinos para el feto que si la mamá hubiera fumado.

According to one study the effects from working in the final part of a pregnancy turn out to be just as harmful for the fetus as if the mother had smoked.

Habríamos habido ido ayer, pero la tienda era cerrado.

The past participle for today was (Fumar-to smoke) i.e. (Fumado). However, I like the sentence you did do. But, it’s (Habríamos ido- We would have gone). Thanks, it gets my vote ☺ - viejito, Aug 29, 2012
Oops. My mistake. I didn't read the post carefully enough. - Notedstrangeperson, Aug 29, 2012

¿Cuántos paquetes de cigarrillos fumaba al día? ¡Me olvidé una vez que vi el helado!

How many packs of cigarettes did you smoke a day? I forgot once I saw the ice cream!

I might have said one of these two…“Se me olvidó una vez que vi el helado”..or.. “Se me olvidó en cuanto vi el helado.” But, where is the compound tense with “haber”? LoL A good sentence is always worth a vote though. Thanks, ☺ - viejito, Aug 29, 2012
Se me olvidó al haber visto el helado. - Ox-Y-Gen, Aug 29, 2012

La semana que viene, vamos de vacaciones, y mi marido habrá dejado de fumar.

Next week we are going on holiday, and my husband will have given up smoking.
