Uses of "dale" and Venezuelan slang?

The other professors (all native speakers) in the immersion program I just finished told us that Cubans use the phrase "dale" all the time. The Cuban teacher, with whom I spent the majority of my time, used it in the following contexts:

--Profe, tengo una pregunta. --Dale

--¡Dale, DJ!

Just out of curiousity, is this really common in Cuban speech and what are some other contexts people use it in?

The same Cuban teacher also made fun of the Venezuelan RA for his vocabulary, saying Venezuelans use tons of slang but I don't remember it. Can anyone give me some examples of Venezuelan slang?

Dale is also used in Mexico. I believe it is the second person imperative of Dar.

When backing out of a parking space and the passenger is helping check for cars. When it is clear. Dale or Salte.
