My understanding of “Tal vez, and Quizas” (which mean “maybe, perhaps”) is that …in Spanish they are treated in the same manner as (si) (if). .. in that, they are treated as asumming or supposing an afirmative, unless the speakers intent is to create doubt, uncertainty, etc.

So, from my perspective, both “Polyglot1day” and “ Eddy” are both correct... ? -Viejito

Yes but I think the subjunctive could also be used here if there is an uncertainty.

Tal vez ella sea una gitana - She may be a gypsy.

-Es posible que ella sea una gitana -Quizás sea una gitana -Tal vez sea una gitana
