Today write sentences with "blow up"
Hello everyone. I think phrasal verbs are some of the most difficult to many English learners because most of them do not have a literal translation. So I have decided to learn one or two phrasal verbs every day.
I know you can help me with that, but you also need to learn Spanish, so please write the sentence in English using the PV then try it in Spanish. Then I will correct your sentence (the Spanish sentence, of course); we will help each other out.
If you´re not sure about how to translate your sentence, just explain (in English) what your Pv means and I will help with your translation.
Today let's write sentences using the phrasal verb:
"Blow up"
1.-Definition: inflate
Examples:
He put too much air in the tire, and so it blew up.
The big air balloon slowly blew up as it was being prepared for flight.
Be careful not to eat too much, or you will blow up.
2.-Definition: to destroy (something or someone) by explosion; to explode
I really thought my Mom was going to blow up when I came home so late.
I had to really control my temper and not blow up over the mans stupid comments.
The committee decided to blow up the old building rather than try to preserve it.
3.-Definition: explode; destroy by exploding
The tank used explosive shells to blow up the enemy tanks.
The enemy tanks were not hit directly by the shells but, were still afraid that the tank would blow up from the damage that was taken.
The aircraft used its missiles to blow up the enemy base and made sure that no one was left alive.
4.-Definition: a balloon/a tyre /a football etc. to fill with air; to inflate
The new Armani suit he bought made his ego blow up.
Im always afraid of blowing up the tire when I put air in it.
I love watching the fire when they blow up hot air balloons.

I didn't realize "destruir" could be used as "blow up". Bien!
