In the spanishdict.com dictionary, the syllables are shown as: tierra[te-er'-rah]
In the practice exercises for Spanish Syllables ti-er-ra results in: Lo siento. Incorrect. I (a weak vowel) combined with e (a strong vowel) forms one syllable with a diphthong. Do not separate the rr combination Correct answer: tie-rra
Perhaps the dictionary should say tye'-rah (or whatever indicates a diphthong).
