I am systematically going through the US keyboard and translating symbols and keys to their Spanish equivalent. When I enter a plus symbol into the spanishdict.com/translate page I get a "blue screen" error page. When I put the symbol inside double quotes inside a full sentence the translation comes back missing the plus symbol. Obviously, the site has a special use for the plus symbol. But I would still like to know what it is called. Here in Guatemala they simply call it "plus" only use the Guatemalan pronunciation of "ploos." I don't know if that is just a popularism from their near northern neighbor or if that is what the symbol is really called. Clarification would be helpful. Thanks.

I suggest you don't put symbols into the translator - it is not a mind reader :) - ian-hill, Nov 2, 2012
My question was, "What is the '+' symbol called in Spanish? Your response to not put symbols into the translator is a non sequitur. Is "ploos" a coloquialism? I've heard it called "más" as well. What is the symbol formally called? - 9a1c5e992a, Nov 2, 2012

If you put the English word for the "+" symbol in the translator, i.e., "plus," it will give you "signo de más" and "signo de sumar."
