Practice not being too literal # 33

Question

As my title says, I am trying to learn to not be literal in translations, so every day I will post a saying in English and ask for suggestions as to how to convey the thought in Spanish. At the end of the day, I will pick the answer that I think most accurately reflects the idea, and I will choose it as best answer for 20 points to the respondent.

Today's phrase is, "All that glitters is not gold."

Algo que parece bueno al principio quizás no es.

(Something that looks good at first maybe isn't)

Todo lo que brilla no es oro. Creo que la frase existe en español también y

significa que no todo lo que nos parece bueno no es como parece. Things are no always as good as they look..

Muy parecida a la sugerencia de Annie: "No es oro todo lo que reluce". Y muchísimo menos literal: "Las apariencias engañan".
