Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here; most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Rac1 will return to continue ¨La Palabra del Día¨. I am substituting. She is caring for some family business over the next few weeks and does not have internet access.

Examples:

1. Ellos se enteraron del chisme a través de la vecina.

  • They heard the gossip through their neighbor.*

2. A través de los años, su amor se esfumó.

  • Over the years, their love faded away.*

En esta fotografía manipulada de Times Square, los neoyorquinos paso a través del agujero de gusano y caminar al desierto del Sahara con un solo paso.

In this doctored photograph of Times Square, New Yorkers step through the wormhole and walk to the Sahara Desert with a single step.

Érase una vez en el Salvaje Oeste, había un hombre con el sombrero puesto de través y el cinturón de arma colgado bajo alrededor de sus caderas delgadas.......Creo que sabéis el resto de la historia, si no, por favor ¡ved la película 'El Bueno, el Malo y el Feo!'

Once upon a time in the Wild West, there was a man with his hat askew and the gun belt slung low around his slender hips.......I think you know the rest of the story, if you don't, please watch the movie 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.'

A través de los años, nunca me has fallado, has cambiado mi vida, los días más dulces que he encontrado, los he encontrado contigo. A través de los años.

Through the years, you have never let me down, you have turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found, I've found with you. Through the years.

"Through the Years". By Kenny Rogers.

La mente humana, como un pájaro, siempre trata de volar a través de la vastedad de las creaciones de Dios / The human mind, like a bird, always tries to fly across the vastness of God's creations.

A través de todo mi vida tengo entender una cosa muy importante,

" nada es diferente , y todo cambia".

Me parece que viajar a través del tiempo tendría ventajas y desventajas.

It seems to me that traveling through time would have advantages and disadvantages.

La natación de agua abierta es un deporte muy difícil porque hay que tratar de nadar en un lago o en el mar, a través del agua turbulenta.

Open-water swimming is a very difficult sport because one must try to swim in a lake or the sea, through the turbulent water.

Los huracanaes que azotan el Caribe comienzan a formarse frente a las costas de Guinea y Guinea-Bissau. Entonces siguen creciendo a través de las cálidas aguas del Atlántico hasta convertirse en una Tormenta Tropical o peor aún, en un poderosos huracan, que puede tocar tierra en cualquier país del Mar Caribe, toda la costa que forma el Golfo de México e incluso en la costa este de los Estados Unidos.

enter image description here

Hurricanes that hit the Caribbean begin to form off the coast of Guinea and Guinea Bissau. Then they keep growing over the warm Atlantic Ocean until they become a tropical storm or even worse, into a powerful hurricane that can hit in many countries of the Caribbean, all the coast surrounding the Gulf of Mexico, and even on the east coast of the USA.
