Who, what, or where am I? #43

Where am I? What are these people doing and why?

If you don't know the answer then don't ask Mr Google right away, but give others a chance to answer ... or ... better yet ...
ask me y/n-questions (questions that I can answer with either a 'yes' or a 'no') to get close(r) to the answer.

Good luck!

Is the the Day of All Saints? (November 1st) I think in some places in Guatemala is a big parade with giant kites

¡Hola! Sort of .... but they are not dedicating whatever they are doing to religious 'figures'/icons/... - mcl020, Aug 7, 2012

I guess it's a Spring festival, but it looks more Buddhist, or at least of Asian origin, than Christian or pre-Christian/western. Is it a fertility festival to ask for good weather and a rich harvest?

Hmm.. I wouldn't say Asian but it does look like that at first glance. Latin American, yes and probably has ties with Christianity too. I wouldn't really know but there's an angel on the middle left side of the second photo. :)) - cheskasullivan, Aug 11, 2012

Yes, these pieces of 'art' are crucial here. And the event can range from an important cultural event to a religious ceremony. It originated from religion. - mcl020, Aug 7, 2012

It looks like a Chinese or Japanese festival to me.
