Me hace falta una cuchara.

I need a spoon. Hacer falta - to be lacking or needing (of something).

Sabes lo que me hace falta? Una muchacha bonita.

You know what I need (or am missing)? A pretty girl.

Good luck smile

mucho gracias but why use hace falta and not jus say quiero - kenton, Jul 30, 2012
Quiero is actually "I want", which is not what you are wanting to say here. - katydew, Jul 30, 2012
For the same reason in English we say, I need 2 more coins, or I lack 2 coins. Variety is the spice of life. - katydew, Jul 30, 2012
