Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. Me pongo tensa cuando veo películas de suspenso.

I get tense when I watch thriller movies.

2. Está lloviendo afuera así que creo que me quedaré en casa a ver una película en la tele.

It's raining outside so I think I'll stay at home and watch a movie on TV.

It is good to watch the movies in the language you study or at least listen to them. Some movies even more times. Each time you watch the same movie, you will understand the language better and better.

Es útil ver las películas en el idioma que estudias o al menos escucharlas. Algunas películas incluso más veces. Cada vez que mires la misma película, comprenderás la lengua mejor y mejor.

Una amiga mía holandesa ganó el 'Oscar' mexicano por ser la mejor actriz en la película "La Muralla China" en 2003, que es muy divertido porque ella actúa normalmente sólo en obras de teatro clásicas, muy graves.
Ganar este premio también le ayudó a obtener un papel en una película argentina sobre el tango.
Así yo conocí mucha gente latinoamericana en su casa aquellos días, pero, lamentablemente, no hablaba nada de español todavía.

A Dutch friend of mine won a Mexican 'Oscar' for best actress in the movie 'The Chinese Wall' in 2003, which is fun because she normally only acts in very serious, classic plays.
Winning this prize also got her a role in an Argentinan tango movie.
So I met lots and lots of Latin American people at her house those days, but unfortunately did not speak any Spanish yet.
