why have daban got the ending "ban"
This is the past imperfect tense and possibly you haven't studied it yet. You take the stem of the word, such as "habl" for "hablar" and add the following endings--
-ar verbs
yo -aba
tú -abas
usted, él, ella -aba
nosotros -ábamos
vosotros -abais
ustedes, ellos, ellas -aban
-er and -ir verbs
yo -ía
tú -ías
usted, él, ella -ía
nosotros -íamos
vosotros -íais
ustedes, ellos, ellas -ían
Example: ¿Hablabas con María cuando José entró? (Where you talking to Maria when Jose walked in?)
Example: Cuando era niña comía mucho queso. (When I was a girl I used to eat a lot of cheese)
Hey, Cohan, nice to see you on the forum.
To understand the change in these verbs you'll have to study verb conjugations.
- "Creer" is an "-ir" verb.
"Creyeron" is the preterit past plural conjugation.
Example-- Ellos creyeron que era una bruja.
- "Dar" is an "-ar" verb.
"Daban" is the imperfect past plural conjugation.
Example-- Ellos daban mucho dinero en el banco.
why have daban got the ending "ban".i dont understant this part can please elaborate this part.
Like see the other endings of "dar"
Doy = i give Das = you give Da = he/she give Damos = we give
The ending added to "dar" are "oy" "as" "a" and "amos" and it also have a reason giving this ending Some show that "oy" show be added when some one want to say "i give" and "amos" must be added to show when some one want to say "we give"
I dont understand this part that after adding "ban" ending to "dar" which now becomes "daban" what is the meaning of this word now is it "i give" "you give" "he/she give" or "we give"?or do it have a totally different meaning?
