They are often used interchangeably.

I agree with gringorf. The "lo" in "yo no **lo se"** is neuter". I don't know (whatever it is representing) The "lo" It is not gender specific, but neuter because it refers to "whatever". The "whatever" represents the thing that you don't know. Whatever it is. smile viejito
