I am confused (as always it seems) But, both words so similar. When I translate w/ Spanishdict it "SEEMS" that the two words are interchangeable. Is this possible? I will end this by saying, Yo digo, y gracias.

"Dida" should be "diga"? A typo? - --Mariana--, Jul 24, 2012

Those two words are not interchangeable at all.

"Decir" is the verb.

  • "Digo" is "I say" (the infinitive verb conjugated to the first person)

Example: ¡Eso digo yo! (That's what I say!)

  • "Diga" is the conjugated formal command form of the word "decir."

Example: ¡Dígame la verdad! (Tell me the truth!)

"Digo" can also be used as "I mean". For ex., "Él es de Peru - digo, Panamá."/He's from Peru - I mean, Panama. - Goldie_Miel, Jul 24, 2012
Though, I don't think that when used in that manner (i.e., correcting oneself or elaborating), "Yo" is used. Just "Digo". I suppose it's possible, though. - Goldie_Miel, Jul 24, 2012
