Caefuego is the official corrector of the Spanish sentences. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Please correct your posts according to Caefuego's suggestions.

Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Then the Word of the Day winner will be chosen.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Examples:

1. Ana estaba hablando mal de Natalia y viceversa.

Ana was speaking badly of Natalia and vice versa.

2. Hay que trabajar para vivir y no viceversa.

We must work in order to live and not vice versa.

Es cierto. Aunque me preocupa más lo que pase con el medio ambiente porque de ello depende la vida a largo plazo en la Tierra. - -cae-, Jul 21, 2012

would the imperfect work better for the decir there Noetol? as in 'it used to be said' instead of 'it was said' (once) :) Some options might be se decía, solía decirse que, se acostumbraba a decir que... but see what some of the others think :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 20, 2012

My father was one of those "General Motor's men." He was an engineer. The advertisement comes across a little sexist for this day and age, no? - JoyceM, Jul 20, 2012

Viceversa significa un punto de visto opuesto, o a ser pragmático, y convertir su idea

en torno a la inversa. corrected ,- "a la inversa.

Vice versa means an opposite view, or to be pragmatic and turn your idea

around the other way.
