Practice not being too literal # 24
As my title says, I am trying to learn to not be literal in translations, so every day I will post a saying in English and ask for suggestions as to how to convey the thought in Spanish. At the end of the day, I will pick the answer that I think most accurately reflects the idea, and I will choose it as best answer for 20 points to the respondent.
Today's phrase is, "If a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bust his rump every time he jumped." Good luck and have fun with this one!

Si cerdos tuvieran alas, necesitaríamos paraguas muy fuerte.

Si los deseos fueran peces, todos tenderíamos nuestras redadas.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. 'Si los deseos fueran caballos, los mendigos montarían a caballo.' Meaning that it is useless to wish that better results will be achieved through action.
Si los perros hablaran, cuántos secretos saldrían a la luz. :D
I think that everyone kinda missed the point of this saying. Basically, it means that you can wish you had done something different all that you want, but it didn't happen so move on.
