Simple way to learn Mexican Spanish on a budget?

What is the best way to learn Mexican Spanish on a budget? I'm starting to catch on already thanks to my husband (read my about me) and a little of the novellas, but I need to get to be more in depth to it and actually talk it more, like in restaurants and such. I'd love suggestions on the most simple way, including certain books or DVDS seeing as how I wok in a Barnes & Noble.

I'd really appreciate your help and tips.

Thank you so much!

I used to find language exchange partners from Mexico and talk to them on Skype. It helps a lot. :) - NikkiLR, Jul 15, 2012

My Colombian friend taught his Haitian wife how to speak Spanish. Within 3 months she was speaking incredibly well. She already knew French, Creole and English, not sure if that helped her or not. The point is, it didn't cost him/her a cent.

Can your husband teach you? Talking with him as much as possible and consuming every word that he speaks..... well, you would be worlds ahead of learning from a course or book.

I think this is the simplest way, all things considered.

Oh, my Colombian friend? He now speaks French, using the same method, talking with his wife.

I'm assuming you two are living together, if not, I'm sorry if I misunderstood.

Come to the answers forum of SpanishDict.com every day and participate in the word of the day.

You can do the lessons and practice with the flashcards, too. One of the best things I did, though, was to schedule a weekly "intercambio" with a native Spanish speaking person who wanted to learn English. We went to lunch once a week and spoke in one language for half the time and the other language for the other half of the time. It really helped us both, and only cost the price of our own lunch.
